Blank Journals
Strange Days: A Pandemic JourneyWhile spaced miles apart, artist Karen Wippich and writer Tom Vandel have worked closely together to create an off-the-wall art book that attempts to capture the experience of our current pandemic – as seen from different perspectives. Somewhat in the style of a journal, “Strange Days: A Pandemic Journey” combines 48 of Wippich’s original, reality-altered paintings matched with Vandel’s prose-poem ponderings that chronicle these life-changing times. This is their second collaboration. Their first joint effort was the art book “Driving Strangers: Diary of an Uber Driver” which is also on Amazon.

“Okay Fine Whatever” – Animated book trailer
I recently worked on illustrations/paintings for an animated trailer promoting Courtenay Hameister’s new book. Video features music by Jim Brunberg and Ben Landsverk of Wonderly, editing and animation by Nick Wichman, all lead by the amazing Marie Murphy, Producer/Director/cat herder extraordinaire. This book is in the words of Cheryl Strayed – A “hilarious and poignant” story of one chronically anxious woman’s quest to become braver by seeking out the kinds of experiences she’s spent her life avoiding.

Collaboration with the weirdly talented Portland writer Tom Vandel. It’s titled “Driving Strangers: Diary of an Uber Driver.”
The book combines pithy musings about people Tom has ferried around Portland as an Uber driver. It also features 25 of my portrait paintings.
